Sailing Committee
The sailing fixtures of the Club shall be arranged and managed by a Sailing Committee consisting of a Treasurer/Secretary and five other Members. Once elected, the Sailing Committee shall choose:
(1) its own Chairman and
(2) a Captain of Matches who shall decide tactics in inter-club matches and
(3) a Representative for each Fleet.
The racing records of the Club shall be kept by an Official Recorder
John Bailey has undertaken the role of Sailing Committee chairman for several years now, steering his committee to making many changes to the sailing and racing at Combs. John is well known for being an enthusiastic GP14 sailor both at Combs and at Southport where he has helped Combs gain trophies in the 24hour race.
Sue Lucas is the Sailing Committee Secretary. Sue is well known for her enthusiasm for organising club events, whilst enjoying socialising with club members. Sue is also well known for her amusing musical talents, recently performing at the sailing clubs Dinner Dance with Richard Silson where they performed several funny songs for the pleasure of their audience.
Gerald Williams is Combs Sailing Club's race recorder. Gerald either sails a Topper or canoes on Combs reservoir most days of the year. He is well none for wearing his trade mark wellington boots around the club, and remains young at heart - his other hobby is paragliding.
Bob Pyett is a sailing committee member who has been a member of management committees at Combs Sailing Club for many years. Bob frequently competes in his single handed Laser sailing Dinghy (a recent replacenment for one he wore out) but also has a GP14, and can sometimes be seen competing within the GP14 fleet for bits of silverware.
Richard Silson is a sailing committee member who is well known for his enthusiasm towards the sport, while using his crews equipment. Extremely knowledgeable in many areas of the world, with stories on everything, and a keen sponge like trait to learning the actual physics to sailing.
